TARANAKI AIRPORT

EXTENSION DECIDED UPON. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 18. The New Plymouth airport is to he extended by the purchase, decided upon by the Borough Council to-night, of an additional 124 acres at Bellblock. The completed airport will have a total area of 310 acres and runways of threequarters of a mile in any direction. The extension involves expenditure by the borough of about £7OOO in the purchase price and bv the Public Works Department of £40,000 in development. The decision was reached largely as a result of the recommendation of Mr Harold Gatty, the American expert.
