CYCLE RACING.
EVENTS AT SPORTSGROUND. With a number of well contested events by fields which included new riders, the Manawtau Amateur Cycling Club commenced its track season at the Sportsground last evening. Results were as follow: Half-mile cycle handicap. First heat: Lawrence (scr) 1, Peters (90) 2, Astin (20) 3; time, 1.5 3-5. Second heat: Prentice (100) 1, Puldoweki (100) 2, Cocker (scr) 3; time, 1.3. Final: Prentice 1, Peters 2, Puklowslu 3; time, 1.5. Boys’ race, 1 lap.—Jameson (50) 1, Steward (30) 2, Sporle (40) 3; time, 47sec. Mile cycle handicap.—Esau (90) 1, Hayes (90) 2, Prentice (190) 3; time, 2.12 3-5. . A ... . Next week running events will be held by the Kia Toa Amateur Athletic Club.
