AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING.
Mr It. A. Levy, president, was in the chair at the annual general meeting of the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club last night, a fair number of members, including the Mayor (Mr T. Collins), being present.
The’ report and balance-sheet (already published) was presented, _ and in moving its adoption the president said he considered the club could lookback upon a successful season. He eulogised the work of the committee in ensuring the success of all the sports events, voicing particular appreciation of the efforts of Mr A. Fade (secretary) and Mr J. Lamberton (starter)./ The club was facing the coining year with good prospects, and Mr Levy looked farward to another period of progress for the club both in sporting and social functioning. The report was adopted and officers elected as follow: —Patron, Mr H. Smithers; president, Mr R. A. Levy; vice-presidents, Messrs T. Collins (Mayor), A. E. Dewe, B. McGrath, Mrs R. Bevan; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr H. McLeod; committee, Messrs M. F. Wildbore, W. McPhail, A. McGregor, J. Lamberton, O. Scotney, R. W. Bickers, A. Mandahl, M. Grindrod; handicapper, Mr 0. Scotney; starters, Messrs Scotney and J. Lamberton. Mr W. McPhail was appointed chairman of the committee and also the club’s delegate to the Manawatu Centre to represent the runners, with Mr J. Lamberton to act for the cyclists. Publicity matters were placed in the hands of Mr Mandahl. and Messrs Groombridge. and Smithers were elected trustees. Mr J. E. Barltrop was appointed hon. auditor. As a mark of appreciation for past services to the club and athletics generally, Mr S. Amadid was elected an honorary member of the club. It was decided to open the season with a road cycle race on November 14.
