CRICKET.

PALMERSTON CLUB. The Palmerston Cricket Club, champions of the 1934-35 season and for several years in succession, held their annual meeting last evening, when Mr A. M. Ongley presided over a large and enthusiastic gathering of members. The report (previously published) and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The chairman said that it was satisfactory to see that a small credit had resulted, for the expense of supplying material for two teams had been heavy. He also made reference to the success attained by the senior team in winning the championship for the eighth year in succession and added that the juniors had also enjoyed a fair measure of success by finishing third on the championship ladcle. Reference was made by the chairman to the splendid services rendered to the club by Mr A. C. McVicar during his long association with them as a member, and he regretted that Mr McVicar would not be assisting his old team in the new season. Messrs L. Mullins and I. N. Leet also spoke eulogistically of the great part Mr McVicar had played in the building of tire club’s proud record, and it was unanimously decided to make him a life member of the club. The election of officers for the incoming season resulted:-—Patron, Mr C. Louisson; president. Mr W. Pegden; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Luoni, M. Millar, G. H. Bennett, A. Wakelin, A. Beattie and W. Broughton; captain, Mr W. E. Norris; vicecaptain, Mr I. N. Leet; selection committee, Messrs W. E. Norris, I. N. Leet and M. A. Ongley; secretary and treasurer, Mr M. A. Ongley; committee, Messrs R. J. Hatch. G. Robertson, L. Mullins, T, Madgwick, M. A. Ongley and A. Gendall; delegates to Manawatu Cricket Association, Messrs A. M. Ongley and W E. Norris.’ The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chairman and secretary.
