An interesting and unusual position has arisen by the selection of C. Smith, the Hawke’s Bay and Maori All Black, as a member of the North Island team to figure in the annual inter-island match, for it was announced yesterday, that Smith had accepted an offer to play in the League code in England and that he would be leaving for the Cld Country immediately. During the trial games which preceded the selection of the 1935 All Blacks, there were many keen students of Rugby form who considered that Smith should have found a place in the side, and his displays in Australia with the Maori team further bore out the contention.- —“Cross Bar.” POST OFFICE MATCH.
