RURAL If A KINGS.
Wright, Stephenson and Co., Lid., and Abraham and Williams Ltd., have received cable advice from their Bradford agent as follows:—Owing to the casing in llie raw material market, Merinos tops are Id down and fine crossbred tops are id to Id down; other crossbred tops are. unchanged. Very little business is passing. About 45 cheeses are being made daily by the Nireaha Dairy Company (Pahiatua), five vats being in use. The lack of spring growth has meant that the supplies of milk are not as great as usual, the season being the moot backward for a number of years. For the first time on record, it is believed, a New Zealand-bred sheep dog has been bought on behalf of the Japanese Government. The dog, King, was purchased from Mr 11. L. Watson, stud shepherd at the Moeraki estate, Hampden, North Otago, by Mr N. 1. Mada, representative of the Japanese firm of Nosawa and G'o., and was shipped on the Melbourne Maru, which left Wellington recently. A decision to register cows for grazing at Oliope Beach, where many gardens have been destroyed and other damage has been done by stock roaming at large, has been made by the Whakatane County Council, one member having suggested that the only way to deal with the troublo was byissuing .cow collars and licensing stock to j graze on the area. j
