JUBILEE CUP WON.

FEILDING 0.8. BEATEN. Weakened by the selection of four of their players for the Manawatu representatives, Feilding Old Boys were obliged to strike their colours and surrender the Jubilee Cup to Feilding b.v 12 points to 9. The yellows never had a better chance to square accounts with the doughty club opposing, them, blit victory was not entirely theirs until the final bell sounded. On leaving the field the cup was handed over to the Feilding team, Mr A. M. Ongley (president of the Manawatu Rugby Union and donor of the trophy) congratulating Feilding on their win. He remarked that, although they bad won it last, they would probably hold it the longest in view of the end of the competitions looming up. At his call cheers were given for the winning team. The sides took the field as follow : Feilding.—Sutherland, W. McCorkindale, H. Dewe, G. McCorkindale, Bary, Thompson, R. Dewe, Rosser, Foster, McFarland, Hight, Fitzgerald, Hare, Kitchen, Spilman. Feilding Old Boys. —Gloyn, Silcock, Bramwell, Wilson, J. Dewe, Pawson, Irvine, Hart, Eade, Bradley, Ivnyvett, Penney (2), Whisker, Kyle. Probably due to the heat of the sun play opened at rather a sluggish pace, but gradually the packs extended themselves. The first ten minutes passed without anv incident, the first hopes for the yellows arising when Bary broke away on a solo run. Tlie opposition was too strong, however, a hefty kick by Gloyn sending the raiders back. The venue changed to the yellow twenty-five, where first Pawson and then Bramwell essayed to cross. Refusing to be driven off, the whites finally gamed their reward when Irvine tossed the leather well infield to Pawson, who made an opening for Dewe to cross near the posts. Gloyn failed. Feilding attacked from the kick with a bustling drive and the packs had settled doyi n to a tight scrummage in the white twenty-five when the ball was shot back to Thompson. Steadying himself the yellow centre found the uprights with a great kick from a difficult angle. Spurred to further efforts the yellows again attacked, aided by a good kick by Sutherland right to the corner flag. R. Dewe secured from the line-out to get the vellow line going, Barv going over by the posts. Thompson converted. Keen football followed, the yellows countering every effort of the opposition to break away. The v'hites persistence eventually won its way, l awson and Silcock dashing off. Blocked by G. McCorkindale. an infield pass came to Bramwell who started the left wing working, Wilson putting m a good run to get over. Gloyn missed. Back came the yellows and they weie attacking hard when Old Boys were penalised, a great kick by Thompson taking the tally to 12. Half time found the scores unchanged. A sparkling rearguard action by Feilding marked the opening stages of the second spell, the whole line handling smoothly, but W. McCorkindale could not get over in the corner. Again the yellows stormed the Old Boys’ line, but were unable to get through. A long range penalty by Thompson just fell short. Back and forward the play surged with many promising movements. Bursting away along the wing, the whites carried everything before them. Reaching the line Wilson was obstructed, the referee awarding Old Boys a try. Wilson’s kick missed and the game ended: Feilding 12, Old Boys 9. Mr R. Akuira refereed.
