PEDIGREE JERSEYS.

NATIONAL SALE. Animated competition was witnessed at tho opening day of the national .Jersey bull sale at Hamilton last week and although it was not evident to such an extent on tho second day, values were regarded as being very satisfactory. The prices generally were considered to be in favour of buyers on tho second day. The best price of the morning session of the second clay was 41gns, this being paid by Mr R. Walsh, To Puke, for Jersey Glen Pay Day, an attractive 2-yoar-old son of Ku Ku Gay Owl from Jersey Meadows Spright, H.C. The vendor was Mr P. V. Bryant, of Mangatainoka. Mr E. Bennett, of Ohanpo, was tho caller of the last bid at 36gns on Allandalo Ambassador, a yearling by Les Niemo’s Emperor (Imp.), from Ku Ku Dixio, H.C. The sale was effected on account of Mr Allan Horn, of Ohau.

Another member of Mr Horn's consignment, Allandale King Pin, by tho same sire and front Allandale Victress, sold at 53gns to Mr S. Dale t of Hamilton. A yearling son of Coronation’s Cid (Imp.), Beaulieu Saracen, was cheap buying for Mr F. M. Murray, of Frankton, at 33gns. Other entries ranged in price from J 5 to 30gns. The entry of Mr C. G. C. Dormer, of Cheltenham, Waipiko Idol, a two-year-old by To Ante Mars Pride from Idalia’s Saucy, V.H.C., topped the afternoon’s sales at 90gns, this figure being paid by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Coy., as agents. Mr 11. J. Lancaster, of Palmerston North, was the final bidder at 62gns on Grecncroft Ambition, an attractive yearling son of Riclgway Prince William and Grecncroft Golden Grace. The vendor was the well-known Waikato brooder, Mr J. Bonos.

Animated competition brought the bidding up to 52gns on Santa Rosa Goy Raindrop, a yearling son of Brampton Coy Volunteer (Imp.) and Ivoridalc Little Rainbow, V. On account of Mr J. A. Mitchell, ol Longburn. this entry was sold to Mr E. G. 11. Vovvlcs. Competition was surprisingly slow on the national grand championship winner, Croflon Niemcs Emperor, the five-year-old son of Les Niemcs Emperor (Imp.) 11. C., and Crofton Golden Bess. The champion was finally bought by Mr F. W. W&rdlaw, of Waimana. at 43gns. Mr J. Inglis, of Nelson, was the vendor. Bccehlands Xenia Flag by Fairy Flag's Raleigh from Bcechlands Xenia Thistle was cheap buying for Messrs Gaue Bros, at 47gns. This entry was sold on account of Messrs A. Moreland and Sons, of Tc Rapa. Another entry of Messrs Moreland and Sons, by tho same sire and out of Beechlands Fairy Maiden, sold to Mr W. E. Thomas, of Fcilding, for 40gns. Mr 11. J. Lancaster, of Palmerston North, bought another member of Mr J. Bones’s consignment, paying 48igns for Grecncroft Golden Aco, a yearling soil of Grecncroft Ace and Grecncroft Golden Lady. Mr E. Barfoot was tho successful bidder at 47gns on Waipiko Cadger, a yearling son of Vivandiere’s Prince, while a yearling son of Waipiko Acme, Waipiko Legatee, was sold for 40gns to Miss Luxford, of Te Aroha. Both these entries were on account of Mr C. G. C. Dormer, of Cheltenham. Mr R. L. Horn, of Ohau, sold a yearling son of Los Niernes Emperor (Imp.) to Mr F. H. LONDON TALLOW MARKET. The Bank of Now Zealand’s produce department has received the following ad vice from its London office under date September 13: —There was a fair demand at the sales held this week. Current quotations: Good mutton, 30s 6d to 31s per cwt; good beef, 27s to 27s 6d: good mixed, 27s to 27s 6d; gut, 23s to 255.
