RANGITIKEI.

MARTON, Sept. 13. At the annual meeting of the Marton Cricket Club the following officers were elected : —President, Mr J. W. Marshall; vice-presidents, Messrs H. IV. Smith, E. Openshaw, A. O. Williams, A. Stuart and Rev. IV. Raine; club captain, Dr. R. A. Church ; vicecaptain, Mr P. P. J. Corballis; secretary, Mr Corballis; trustees, Messrs Corballis and J. H. C. Broad ; delegates to association, Messrs C. M. Holdaway, Corballis, 0. Williams and D. Sladden; selector, Mr B. Baskin. It was decided to affiliate with the association and enter a team for the Arkwright Shield competition. At the monthly meeting of the Junction School Committee, owing to Mr C. Gronn’s retirement Mr Frederick was appointed chairman. Mr J. Mainwaring was elected secretary, Mr J. Steele having retired from the position. It was reported that a scarlet oak tree planted recently in honour of Mr C. Gronn was growing well, and all trees obtained in connection with Arbor Day had been planted. A donation of rose trees had also been planted. At a meeting of the supporters of Mr Onnond Wilson (Labour candidate for llangitikei) a committee of eight was set up.
