RANGITIKEI.
.MAHTON'. Sept. 12. St. Stephen's Parish Hall was the scene of gay festivities on Tuesday evening in connection with the Parents’ Association of the-Parochial Day School, the committee of which has I been untiring in its efforts to supplement the school maintenance fund. There were five . tables of bridge, Mr and Mrs Bush winning the prize. A balloon dance was won by Mr and Mrs B. H. Morris, and the Monte Carlo bv Mr and Miss Ahlworth. Mr P. Purnell, chairman of the Wanganui-Ltangitikei Electric Power Board, is in Wellington attending the annual Power Boaids’ Conference. Miss Leila Phillips was hostess last evening at a parry in honour of Miss Betty Batchelar, whose marriage is shortly to take place. About 40 guests were present and an enjoyable time was spent ill games and competitions. After supper, Ihe guest of honour opened the parcels, which contained many useful gifts for her new home.
