NATIONAL DAFFODILS.
WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP. AVON BY AAV AH URI. AVAN GAN UI, Sept. 12. AVitH over 3000 beautiful spring blooms attractively displayed the Wanganui and Suburban Horticultural Society’s National Daffodil Show was opened in the Drill Hall this afternoon by the Mayor, Mr AV. J. Rogers. Throughout the afternoon and evening sessions there were large attendances of the public. Air A. Gibson (Alarton) is the judge of the cut ilowers and pot plants. Conspicuous success was achieved by Air Av. E. Weightman, ot Awahuri, who scored heavily in the prize list, and won the West Coast championship. Following were the winners of the national championships : —Champion of champions: W. H. Booth’s Buffo Bi-colour; trumpet, H. J. Poole’s Honour; Barm, H. J. Poole’s Airs Barclay; seedlings, AY. E. Weightman; incomparabilis, B. Antunovic’s Wellingtoma ; yellow trumpet. \V . H. Booths crocus; wmte trumpet. W. E. Weightman’s Beersheba; Leedsii, AV. H. Booth’s Buffo. Tlie AVest Coast championship trophy was won outright by AV. E. • Weightman.
