KOPANE.
(From Our Omit Correspondent.) KOPANE. Sept. 11. The Glen Oroua ladies’ basketball team journeyed lo Kopane lo indulge in a friendly game with the home team. Owing to tho Bulls team being unable to come as arranged, games wore played between the teams present. The ICopano teams took part in a tournament held at Rongoteu. The weather M’as very, rough, with Irequent showers of rain which made (lie ball very bard to handle. In tlie A grade matches Kopane beat Rosina and Rangiotu, but in tho final were beaten by Oroua Downs, 4 —2. In the B grade Kopane beat Rongotea and Taikorea, anil were the winners of the section. At tho conclusion of the games Mrs Davidson, of Rongotea, presented the members of the winning teams with small gifts. Afternoon tea, served by the members of the Rongotca Club, was enjoyed by all present.. Mr C. Fades and Mrs Davidson refereed the game.
Final preparations have been made for tlie annual basketball dance of the To Kaivau Union, when the trophies will lie presented to tho winning clubs and their members.
The third term reopened at the school on Monday. Miss Curton and Mr D. 10. Warner have returned to resume their ilulics.
Miss Marlie Whyte, of Palmerston North, is ai, present tlie guest of Miss M. Morgan. Mis (.'. H. Thompson and her son have returned home from a holiday with Mrs Thompson’s daughter in Wanganui. The friends of Mr F. Bodily Mill ho pleased to learn that he is now able to get about again. Mr I>. Prentice lias returned home after spending a long vacation ill the Hawke’s Bay.
