FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The usual fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.0.F., was held on Monday evening, Bro. It. Jones, C.R., presiding over a good attendance. The Woodwards reported 19 members on the sick funds of the Court. Correspondence was received from Sir William Jorvois (Wellington), Court Poliangina (Ashhurst), and Manchester Unity of Oddfellows Lodges. The members passed a resolution of sympathy to 13ro. Levy who lias recently suffered a bereavement. An invitation from Court Pohangina (Ashhurst) to attend their annual gathering was uccepted, also one from Loyal Manawatu Lodge, 1.0.0.1°. It was resolved that tins court join in a Friendly Societies church parade at All Saints’ next mouth, providing other societies do the same. The address is to be given by the Bishop of Nelson. Two new members were initiated into the ordei by the C.lt., assisted by. the I.P.C. Bro. Freeman. The jubilee of the court is to be honoured by a dinner on October 16, when several district officers and others will be in attendance. The dinner will be held at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame s, when it is expected that about 200 will be present. Bros. Rosanoski, Bradley, and lie id were appointed a committee to draw up a programme of musical items for the occasion. At the conclusion several members engaged in a game of bowls.
