FRUITGROWERS CONFER.

DAY OE HAPHAZARD METHODS PAST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. The fruitgrowers’ conference was opened to-day. by Hon. C. E. Macmillan. Mr Coates, who also attended, said the future of the industry was much brighter, but the day ot haphazard competitive methods had outlived its usefulness and collective discussion and agreements were essential. Mr Macmillan referred to the work of the organisation that had already been done and forecast a rapid advance in settlement through the progress of citrus fruit growing. He said the Fruitgrowers’ Federation, the Emit Board, ami officers of the department had all worked ill perfect harmony to overcome their difficulties. The adoption ol the report was removed by Mr T. C. Brash and carried .
