(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANTHJN, Sept. 4.

A very enjoyable evening was spent at tho home of Mr and Mrs Albert Alatthews, Mt. Stewart, on Saturday last, when the Sandon Alethodists tendered a gift evening to Afiss Alrna Alatthews, who ie to be married in a few days’ time. Rev. R. E Fordyce had charge of the proceedings and a very happy evening, spent in games and competitions, passed all too quickly. On behalf of tho assembled friends, Air Fordyce asked Miss Ajattliews to ucccpt the numerous gilts which were displayed upon the table. He assured her that each gift was an expression of goodwill from a well-wisher. Mr A. Alatthews, on behalf of his daughter, thanked tho' company lor their presence and gitts. Air H. R. Alasters thanked Air and Airs Alatthews for opening their home for the occasion, and the chairman thanked Airs 11. R. Masters and Airs AV. E. Pearce for arranging the evening, and all who had helped. Tho weekly shoot of the Sandon Miniature Rifle Club was held on Monday evening. There was a good attendance of members and the standard of shooting showed an improvement. The Gedye Stars were won by:—A grade, Ken Lumsden and P. Gedye; B grade, Keith Lumsden; G grade,- E. Green and E. Davey. The following are the detailed scores: —Keith Lumsden, P.
