WAIATA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIATA, Aug. 30. The meeting of the Waiata Women’s Institute was held at the homo of Mrs W. Millar, on Wednesday afternoon. There was a good attendance. A bring and buy stall did good business. Final arrangements were made for the birthday social, which is to be hold shortly. Two competitions were held and were won by Mrs B. Mclxod 1, and Mrs B. Micrs 2; and Miss Jean Rcdshaw 1, and Mrs B. Micrs 2. The roll call, “Irish jokes,” was well responded to and caused much amusement. The rest of *ho afternoon was spent in a social chat as the demonstrator was unable to ho present. A new institute baby, Brian Sirupson, was presented with a money box by Mrs Millar on behalf of the members. Afternoon tea was served, after which a vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Millar for her hospitality.
