REMITS CARRIED

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 28

The annual conference of the Now Zealand League of Nations Union, which was opened at Wellington today, will he continued to-morrow. The Dominion president (Rev. F. H. Wilkinson) is presiding. Remits carried during the day included the followUl “in view of the approaching general election, Otago asks the Dominion council to draw up a questionnaire on tho League of Nations to be put to all political candidates throughout tho constituencies.” Attention was directed to what was stated to he one of the weaknesses of the League of Nations system in the settlement of international disputes, when the following remit from Timaru was discussed: —“That this conference is convinced that the present constitution of the League of Nations in ineffective in securing its aims and affirms that these can he secured only by the surrender of national sovereignty through a definite commitment to the aims of the new commonwealth and ail equity tribunal and international police force.” The remit was referred to branches for consideration, as was also the question of the abolition of military training in schools.
