MR FIRTH’S TASK. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 22. Mr R. M. Firth, who has l>een appointed New Zealand Government Trade and Tourist Commissioner for AVestern America, is sailing by tire Niagara for Vancouver. His headquarters will he in Los Angeles. Mr Firth said to-day that at the outset his work would Ire to make contact with travel-selling organisations and endeavour to encourage a larger tourist trade. He spoke of the success in Australia ■ of the co-operation of the New Zealand Tourist Department with travel-selling concerns, and said it was hoped to extend the work in the same way in the United States.
