MT. RICHARDS ROAD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) MT. RICHARDS, Aug. 22. Throughout the week snow has been falling at frequent intervals. On Tuesday morning, Makiokie Road was covered to a depth of two inches, and the lower coup, try also received a hoavv sprinkling. With Wednesday came a southerly wind which blow the snowflakes in full speed across Makiekie Road again. At a school committee meeting, it was decided to celebrato Arbor Day of the Jubilee year this week. Parents will attend the school ono afternoon and assist in the planting of native trees and garden shrubs. School examinations are now concluded, and the term closes on Friday. A fair congregation attended evensong service on Sunday when Rev. 11. B. Goertz took as his theme tho anomalies of the Confirmation service.
Basketball was not hold owing to tho spongy condition of tho ground. Kia Ora players altered their form of seasonal celebrations, this year. In past years it has been the custom to hold an annual dance, but as the players’ interests have now turned to drama, it was appropriate to visit the festival in Palmerston North over tho week-end. Members of the team regretted that the patronesses were unable to accompany them.
