(From Om* Own Correspondent'.) NULSOX, Aug. 2.

On Wednesday afternoon, members of flic School Committee, residents and school children assembled at I lie school to make a presentation and bid farewell to Miss J. Jordan, assistant teacher, who lias been on the staff' of the school for the past 31, years and is leaving owing to her airiroacliing- marriage. Air F. .Murphy, chairman of the School Committee, apologised for the absence of members of the committee who were unable to bo present, arid in making tho presentation of a crystal jug and tumblers to the guest as a memento of her stay in this district, eulogised the good work done by Aliss Jordan during her slay at the school, and also stated that the residents, as well as the scholars, were sorry to see her departing, hut wished her the bent of luck in the future. Air MeKwen (headmaster) also spoke in glowing terms of Aliss Jordan's work, and endorsed the remarks of the previous speaker. Aliss Jordan suitably replied and thanked all present for their kind wishes. A beautiful bouquet, kindly made by Airs McKenzie, of Alilson's Line, was presented to Aliss Jordan by Jean .McDonald, a small pupil. A programme of songs and elocutionary items under the direction of Aliss Bvooker (teacher) was given In- the pupils, the items being as follow: —Songs. “The Snow” and “Slumber Song.” primers; recitation. “The AYind,” Julie Eaton; recitation, “Elf ami Doorinoiiise.” Tom Haetclow; songs, “Bobby Sliaftec.” “Cuckoo,” and “Sonic Folk Do,” upper classes: recitation, “The Pirate.” Colin Bobbie; recitation. “The White Road,” Phyllis Chalk; songs, “Curly Head” and “Up and Down,” primers. The afternoon concluded witli musical honours for Ali.-s .Jordan. ’Hie vacancy on the staff of the school is being filled temporarily by Alims Tbonijison, of Palmerston North.

Mr and Airs Green and family, of l’ackakariki. have taken up their residence in Leeds Street, Mr Croon having been transferred to Palmerston North by the Railway Department.
