GERMAN PENAL CODE.
THE WORST CRIME. “ASSASSINATION OF HITLER.” A list of fresh penal offences to be incorporated in the legal code now being prepared is announced by Herr Staler, of the Ministry of Justice, says the Berlin correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph. New offences introduced for the further protection of the State are: Calumniation of the people. Disparagement of German history. Bringing into contempt of the historical figures revered as incorporating German ideals. Malicious attempts to diminish the glory of deeds performed by the German army or German soldiers.
Attacks'on marriage and the family, and malicious disposal of family property. Special provisions have been made for the protection of the prestige of the Nazi movement. The assassination or attempted assassination of the leader is in a category bv itself, as the most serious crime which any German can commit. PRISON FOR GIRL STUDENT. During tlie last few days heavy penalties have been passed under tire existing law for Hie protection of the Nazi regime. A girl student, of Essen was sentenced to five months' imprisonment, for “calumniation of the Leader’, in a cafe. A 17-year-old apprentice of Frankfort was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for remarks about the Reichstag fire and “insults directed against the Hitler. I otitli movement.” A you 111 of V icsbaden received four months’ imprisonment for ironical remarks about a portrait of Herr Hitler. “The Order of Druids.” as a result of pressure by the Government, declared itself dissolved in Germany on the ground that file “State must demand the union of all Germans for the work of reconstruction, and (iris can only be hampered by the existence of small groups of citizens.”
