1,. J. ELLIS’S GOOD LEAD. With onlv a fortnight remaining before the current racing season closes, there appears to be. little posibility of W. JBroughton, the Palmserston North horseman. wresting the championship from the southerner, L. J. Ellis. The latter will thus register his second successive success. Both Ellis and Broughton failed to ride a winner at the Trentham meeting, the best tho former could do being two thirds in 10 rides, and the latter one third in eight mounts. . . - Seven days racing remain m the season now drawing to a close, five being in the North Island and two in tho South. Broughton thus has an advantage in this respect, licit as there is a conflict in dates in certain instances, it does not amount to much. ... ~ Folowing is the list of jockeys who have ridden 20 or more winners during the sea-
