GEORGE’S SYDNEY-TEAM.
ELLIS BROS.’ INTENTIONS. (By “Binocular.”) A. E. and L. J. Ellis have made tentative arrangements to leave for Sydney after the Grand National meeting. British Columbia, who has hud a spell since racing at the Auckland , winter meeting, has resumed work at Avondale. Greek Gold, who is a good class sprinter and who handles heavy going nicely, is being tried in the north as a jumper. S. Wilson wijl attend the Hastings meeting on Saturday where ho will pilot Hunting Cat and Granvale. Ho will be the rider of Arctic King in the Winter Cup at lticcarton.
The Ranger, who did not fulfil his engagements at Trentham, has gone through to Hastings for the hunt meeting on Saturday. Ho will lx> ridden by F. Thompson. The team which T. George will take to Australia will comprise three of Mr W. Higgins’s horses, Debham, Fulojoy and tile two-year-old Cricket (Chief Ruler —Summertime), three of Messrs W. A., W. and R. Smith’s horses, Wotan, Lo Grand and Debut, Mr A. F. Loo’s Might, and Mr S. E. Hill’s Princess Doreen. It appears to be a very useful string. Arrangements have been made to ship Link Divine to Melbourne about, the middle of next month. It was previously intended that J. Brown would take the Lysander—Makepeace youngster Votium also, but the plans have been altered, and it is now intended to give him a race or two before deciding upon his future programme. Reports from Wanganui §tato that Spiral has built up into a splendid horse and is in great heart, lie has done a fair amount of work and will bo ready *to race at the spring meetings. As a three-year-old last season Spiral’s form was good, his chief success being in the New Zealand St. Legor at Trentham. He has always displayed staying ability. Mr P- A. Swney has recommissioned the Musketoon —Lagg mare Lagoon, and together with Mungatoon and Mungacre she is doing road work, says a f ie .Doha. report. 1 .agoon appears to have, wintered well and is likely to cotno to hand early in the now season. Golden Chance, who was a winner at Canterbury Park (Sydney) on Saturday, is a three-year-old brother to Golden Wings. He and a younger brother, Golden Treasure, wore taken across tho Tasman by the Woodvillc mentor, 11. E. Russell, some weeks ago. Both were bred by Mi C. T. Kceblo, of Palmerston North, in whose colours Golden Wings did his lacing.
