LATE MR W . KITCHEN.
The death, early last week, of Mr illia.ni Kitchen, of Aorangi Street, Feilding, in his 74th year, removed a rvell-known resident of the town. Born and educated in Wellington. Mr Kitchen was the only son of the late Mr John Kitchen, of Harris Valley. Spending his early days in the Jolinsonville and Fitzliorbert districts, Sir Kitchen later settled in Feilding, where Ire married Miss Sarah Towler, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs F. Towler, who were among the first settlers in the district. Mr
Kitchen was a keen footballer, in which game he retained an interest right up to the time of his death. For 20 years he was connected with the local timber yards as an employee. In addition to his widow there are left to mourn their loss a grown-up family, of seven sons and four daughters. The funeral took place at the Fei id ing cemetery, the service being conducted by Rev. Mr Mayo, of Marton. Six sons of Mr Kitchen acted as pall-bearers at the house, and at the cemetery the bearers were Messrs J. Svmonds, W. Ilosoman, G. Towler, A\. Towler, J. Garnett and I). Thompson. Among the large number of floral emblems received were ones from the Feilding Sash and Door Coy., the employees of Messrs Borth-
wick and Sons, Ltd., Feilding Horticultural Society, and Kowhai Rebekah Lodge.
