CONSERVATIVES HOLD SEAT. LONDON, June 24. Owing to Mr John Buchan’s elevation to the Peerage as Viscount Tweedsnniir and to the Governor-Gen-eralship of Canada, a by-election was held for the Scottish Universities’ seat and it resulted as follows: Graham Kerr (National Conservative) 20.507 Mrs Naomi Mitchison (Lab.) 4,293 Majority for Kerr 16,214 At the general election Lord Tweedsmuir (then Mr John Buchan) was returned unopposed.
