FOXTON HARBOUR.

BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston North to-day, Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presiding. Others present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., F. C. Raikes, W. E. Barber, P. W. Goldsmith, W. E. Carthew and H. Osborne. The pilot (Mr C. Vendore) reported having taken over charge of the pilot station at Manawatu Heads on May. 22. He stated that both the bar and river were in good condition, the former carrying a depth of 9ft. at spring tides. He considered that the board’s launch was not very reliable. The engine was in .very bad order, and should receive attention at once. Some of the beacons also required attention. Five new ones were required and others needed repairing. There had been four arrivals and four departures during the month.
