MANAWATU CLUB. BENEFIT; TOURNAMENT. At the Hokowhitu links yesterday splendid conditions prevailed for the final matches in the. Manawatu Golf Club’s unemployment benefit tourney. In the morning there were stroke handicaps. In the women’s section the best cards were returned as follow: A grade.—Mrs L. F. Specchley, 84— 11 —73; Mrs L. F. Cooper, 97 —15—82; Mrs J. F. AERO CLUB. Members of the Aero Golf Club held a tournament yesterday under ideal conditions on the Milson links. The morning ladies’ stroke competition was won by Miss 1). Whittaker with a card of 101 —26 —75. The next best cards were returned by Miss E. Higgins, 116 —34—82; Mrs G. Houston, 116—34 —82; Mrs Aikman, 111— 26 —85; Mrs Eccleston, 115 —26 —89; Miss G. SOUTHERN HAWKE’S BAY TITLE. WON BY MANAWATU PLAYER. The Southern Hawke’s Bay championship tournament conducted by the Dannevirke Golf Club concluded yesterday afternoon, when the Manawatu player, 0. H. Williams, annexed the title, beating L. A. Reid (Waipukurau) at the 17th green. A large number of spectators followed the the championship finalists, who played excellent golf, The additional results are as follow: SOUTHERN HAWKE’S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP. Semi-finals. —O. H. Williams (Manawatu) beat W. E. Knight (Dannevirke) 2 anti 1; L. A. Reid (Waipukurau) beat T. Hanita (Takapau) 2 and 1. . Final.—Williams beat Reid, 2 and 1. DANNEVIRKE HANDICAP. Semi-finals.—ll. M. Tatere (Dannevirke) beat R. Comerford (Sliandon); J. Cooper (Dannevirke) beat G. M. McCaskill at the 21st. Final.—Tatere beat Cooper. Tatere has now won this event for three successive years.
