WINNING OWNERS.
MR B. BURGESS HEADS THE LIST. The success of Walton Park in the principal handicap 011 the opening day brought to his owner-trainer, Mr B. Burgess, o£ Opaki, the sum of £l6O, which enabled him to head the winning owners’ list. Ho was closely attended by another ownertrainer, Mr W. D. Mexted, of Dannevirkc, who annexed £l5O by the double success of Air Laddie in the jumping events. Then came Mr H. Pearson, the owner of Gapel, who followed up a second in the Raukawa Cup by scoring in the Ta Kimi Kara Flandicap yesterday, winning £l3O. The double success of Arctic King brought Mr IV. J. Wood £125, while another double winner, Sporting Song, brought to his Palmerston North lady owner, Mrs G. M. Bennett, £IOO. Minor stake winners were Messrs H. P. F. Blundell and F. Calvert £BS each, Mrs I\l. Strachan £75, Mr G. A. Downs £65, Mr J. Macrae £55, Mr T. A. Duncan £45, Mr A. T. Smith £2O, Messrs J. Duggan, J. Puti, J. D. McDougall, A. F. Loe, A. Aldic, J. D. Lambess, and R. J. Murphy £ls each, Messrs W. IT. Gaisford, T. Newman, A. F. Symcs, F. Nosdale, ,7. C. Kennedy, Smith Bros, and Mrs E. O’Neill £lO each, Messrs C. Boyle, A. FI. N. Taylor, F. Bristol, C. J. James, A. T. Gat roll, and W. IT. Bowden £5. A total of £I3OO was given away in stake money bv the club. THE TRAINERS’ LIST. The New Plymouth mentor, H. Dulicu, enjoyed a good innings, wiijning races with Sporting Song (2) and Gold Mission. Two mentors registered two wins each—W. D. Mexted, Dannevirkc, winning the hurdle event each day with Air Laddie, and W. J. Wood, of Trcnthain, the hack seven furlong event each day with Arctic King. Single successes went to B. Burgess, Opaki (Walton Park), Mrs A. W. McDonald, Awapuni (Boudoir), A. M. Wright, Otaki (Cottesmore), L. G. Morris, Marton (Oratory), J. M. Flastie, Feilding (Lapel), G. W. B. Green, Hastings (Royal Banquet) and R. Barlow, New Plymouth (Refresher). THE JOCKEYS’ TABLE. P. Atkins- headed the jockeys’ list with three wins, the Hawke’s Bay horseman having saluted the judge on Walton Park, Royal Banquet, and Refresher. Pour horsemen rode two winners eacji—R. Reed (Sporting Song, Boudoir), B. IT. Morris (Cottesmore, Oratory), L. IT. Jones (Arctic King twice) and j. McFarlane (Lapel, Sporting Song). Single successes were credited to R. Savage (Gold Mission), L.Dulieu (Air Laddie first day), W. J. Bowden (Air Laddie second day).
