HOCKEY MATCH INCIDENT. GISBORNE, June 2. One of tlie games played in the Poverty Bay Hockey Association’s, men’s championship competition ended abruptly when one of the teams, Takitimu. A, left the field as a protest against the action of the referee in ordering off one of its members. The incident occurred toward the end of the game between Y.M.C.A. and Takitinni. ■ , , , „ Y.M.C.A. were in the lead by live goals to two, and there were about five minutes to go before the filial whistle. At this stage tlie releree ordered a Takitimu player off the field for tripping an opponent. Expressing disagreement with the decision, a number of the player’s team mates left the field, and the remainder followed a little later.
