OPIKI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPIKI, March 14. The annual meeting of the Ladies’ Sports Club was held in. the hall on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Claridge was in the chair and there was a fair attendance of members. Mrs Claridge was elected president for the ensuing year. Miss L. Carson, club captain. Miss Jean Young, vicecaptain, and Miss R. Skerry, hon. secretary and treasurer. It was decided to join the Manawatu Basketbnll Association and it is hoped that two teams will be formed within the club for practice matches—one from the Makerua end and one from the Opiki end. Two grounds have been socured for the purpose—one at each end of the district. The first practice match will be played on Tuesday fortnight. It is proucsed to hold a euchre ana dance for the purpose of raising funds for the club on May 3, on which night tho winter ping pong will also bo commenced. Ihe following are tho Opiki group herd testing averages for the month of February :— Average, 16.71: highest herd, 23.91: highest cow, 44; association average, 16,703 cows, 23.31 buttorfat. Miss M. Wilson is at present spending a holiday at Foxton Beach.
