FREE TRADE HOPES.
BRITAIN AND NEW ZEALAND. “Do you support tho purchase of British goods by New Zealand?” was a question asked Mr H. O. Mellsop. president of the Auckland Provincial Farmers’ Union, during the course of an address at Feilding'on Tuesday, the speaker in reply emphatically declaring himself as wholeheartedly on side with reciprocal trade between England and Now Zealand on a free basis.
| “I look forward to the time,” said Mr Mellsop, “when New Zealand and Britain will he as one country, with an unrestricted entry of each other's products. In New Zealand 96 per cent, of the population will benefit by free trade with England and in England 93 per cent, of the population will benefit by free trade with New Zealand. “Free trade between our Dominion and the Mother Country is a dream I have which I hope will soon bo realised,” tho speaker concluded.
