FEDERAL DEFENCE

ATTITUDE TO COMPULSION. AN ULTIMATE DECISION. NOT AT PRESENT TIME. (United, Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received March 12, 10.35 a.m. CANBERRA, March 12. The Federal Government does not propose to reintroduce compulsory military training for at least another two years. The Ministry indicated that the money available for the rehabilitation of the defences in the next few years can better be used on the permanent establishment than in attempting to rebuild a partly-trained citizen force under the compulsory system. The ultimate restoration of compulsory training, however, is one of trie objectives ot the defence policy.
