WOODVILLE
WOODVILLE, March 8. The committee of the WoodviUc A. and P. Association met this week, Mr W. H. Gaisford presiding. The secretary (Mr R. R. Johnston) submitted.a lengthy, report on tho recent show, in which ho said the total increase in the number of entries was 92. The report continued: “In spite of the fact cf making considerable advancement in our show, especially with entries, I regret to have to report another estimated loss of £52 on the year’s working. Tho prize money was increased with a .view to fost-
cring several of our sections, tlic result being not altogether satisfactory. The total increase in prize money this year of £4l makes up the.greater part cf our loss. Judges’ expenses arc £6 higher, but the majority of other items of expenditure show a saving on last year. Our receipts in most items show an increase. An extra effort has been made to keep down all expenditure and this has been carried out as far as possible. It will be necessary for the committee to give the future operations of the socicy serious consideration. I feel confident that with a more sustained and united effort to increase our membership we can again reinstate our association on a good financial basis.” In answer to Mr G. Morgan, who suggested deleting the classes which did not pay, the president stated that it would be a difficult matter, as one section which was down one year might increase the next. In addition, it would be bard to cut down their expenses, as they had been much lower this year than previously.' The whole point at -issue, however, was that everyone, should pull together to keep the association in action, said Mr Gaisford. There was no doubt that the stewards at the last show had done their- part, as everything went off well. He urged all members to become financial. It was decided that tlic annual ball be held earlier this year. The Woodyillc County Council met toI day, Cr. M. O. Grainger presiding. Or. O. 11.
