SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNICS.
ANNUAL GATHERINGS HELD. Two Sunday school picnics were held on Saturday, the scholars of St. Peter’s Church, Terrace End, being taken to Awapuni, and those from St. Andrew’s Church gathering at the Albert Street Park. In both cases motor buses and private cars were used to transport the children, their parents and friends to the picnic grounds, and it was estimated that about 200 in all attended each picnic. The St. Andrew’s Church picnic had as the general organiser Air W. B. Tennent, the superintendent of the Sunday School, who was assisted by the teachers. Airs M. Aitchison was in chargo of the catering, while Air J. Fvfe headed the sports committee. In both instances they were assisted by voluntary helpers. The Hokowhitu School Committee generously offered the use of the school baths between 11 a.m. and noon, the pool being near the picnic venue.
ST. PETER’S CHURCH
The St. Peter’s Church picnic was under the general supervision of the - Sunday school teachers, various committees attending to the different parts of the arrangements. A catering committee and a sports committee provided the main items of interest for the children, both being assisted by a number of helpers.
