Members of the Apiti, Unnitoi and Rangiwahia Bible classes had an enjoyable day with a Yankee tennis tournament on the Apiti courts. Three rounds of mixed doubles were played and this resulted in a tie between Miss J. Searle and W. Organ, and Miss D. Fankhauser and N. Hart. The play-off resulted in a win for Miss Searle and W. Organ. The games and scores were as follows: —First round: Miss J. Searle and N. Hart boat Miss Patched and L. Hcnimings, 25—12; Miss J. Moess and H. McKenzie beat Miss J. Mapson and C. Mapson,22B; Miss 11. Fankhauser and J. Carr beat Mrs Patched and Jl. Forbes, 25—22; Miss Boshier and S. Moess beat Miss D. Hommings and J. Boshier, 25—7; Miss Carey and W. Hart beat Miss White and M. Searle, 25—17; Miss U. Hemmings and W. Organ won the round. Second round: Miss O. Hemmings and J. Boshier lost to Miss Carey and C. Mapson, 11 —25; Mies Boshier and B. Forbes beat Miss J. Mapson and L. Hemmings, 25—21; Miss Patched and S. Moess lost to Miss Fankhauser and M. Searle, 17—25; Miss White and N. Hart - beat Miss D. Henimings. and H. McKenzie, 25—23; Miss Patchctt and W. Hart beat Miss Moess and J. Carr, 25—10; Miss J. Searle and W. Orgun won the round. Third round: Mins J. Mapson and H. McKenzie beat Miss O. Hemmings and J. Carr, 25—14; Miss Fankhauser and S. Moess boat M’ss Boshier and J. Boshier. 25 —17; Miss White and N. Hart beat Mies Carey and C. Mapson, 25 —24; Mrs Patched and B. Forbes beat Mies Moess and L. Hemmings, 25—20; Miss D. Hemmings and M. Searle beat Miss Patchett and W. Hart, 25—14; Miss J. Searle and W. Organ won the round. Luncheon and afternoon tea were served by the ladies, the trophies were presented by Mrs T. Searle. There was a large gathering of Oddfellows for the annual installation of officers. N.G. Bro. C. McKay presided and welcomed visitors from Feitding and Palmerston North. P.IJ.G.M. ■ Bro. Fowells was installing master and the conductors were P.O.’s Bros. N. Viles, M. Jacobs and D. Kearney. The following were installed into office: Bro. H. G. Viles, N.G.; Bro. Id Munro, V.G.; Bro. R. Cave, E.S.; Bro. C. McKay. I.P.N.G. After supper had been served, dancing was _ enjoyed, the music being supplied by Sister Fowell. Mr H. Wildbore presided at a meeting of the School Committee, when Messrs B. Waterson, R. V. Stewart, A. Bensemann and W. Hogan (secretary) were also present. It was decided that four trees growing on the playground be removed before the ground is ploughed. All the school tanks have been thoroughly cleaned, and some very instructive maps have been purchased for school use. There was a considerable discussion over the recent visit of the Education Board members and the secretary was instructed to again ask for more favourable consideration of the Apiti School’s requirements. Messrs H. Wildbore and B. Waterson were appointed delegates to the Manawatu and Oroua School Committees’ Association. Mr W. McKenzie was appointed auditor. The annual picnic will bo held at the Domain on March 15.
