PAHIATUA RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF STEWARDS.

The stewards of the Pahiatua Racing Club met recently, Mr D. Kelly presiding. Several matters with regal'd to the clubs next meeting wore finalised. Mr R. J. Smith moved that the club run a win and place totalisator machine, tho place machine being for first and second horses only in the ratio of 75 per cent, and 25 per cent. It had boon adopted successfully in Stratford. This was seconded by Mr S. T. Tinney. Mr A. Bentley suggested writing first to Siratford to ascertain how the new system worked, and this course was decided upon. The opinion ol tfio club is also to bo ascertained as to whether this system is advisable for a country club. Mr Tinney moved that if tho reply from Stratford was favourable the system be adopted automatically for the Pahiatua meeting. Tho president reported that a Glasgow firm had kindly donated a case of cutlery for tho Pahiatua Cup on the first day and a Pahiatua firm had also kindly donated a case of cutlery (valued at 20 guineas) for tho Champion Hack Race on the second day. After a keen discussion it was decided that no local people be given passes to tho stewards’ stand except members of the club.
