SANDON, March 4. An enjoyable kitchen tea was given for Miss L. Bailey at “Makowhai Mara,” Ohakca, the residence of her mother,- Mrs _ J. A. Bailey, in honour of her approaching marriage. The spacious lawn was lit with Chinese lanterns and the old elm trees formed an effective background. Dancing and competitions took place, and items were rendered by Mrs K. Bailey and Miss Anderson. Music was provided by Mrs Butler’s orchestra and extras were played by Miss 11. Freeklington. Mr G. Chesterton, on behalf of the Feilding Hockey Association, thanked Miss Bailey for all that she had done for the association. He said that, often when no umpires wero available Miss Bailey would come forward to take the game. " Ho concluded by wishing Miss Bailey the best of luck in her new homo and a long life of happiness. Miss M. Taylor, on behalf of the Ohakca Girls’ Hockey Club, thanked Miss Bailey for tho interest she had taken in tho club, mentioning that it was due to her excellent coaching that tho club had done so well last year. She presented Miss Bailey with a silver en f rce dish in appreciation of her efforts on their behalf. Mr W. E. Pearce asked Miss Bailey to accept tho gifts that had been brought a-s a token of the esteem in which she is hold in Oliakea and tho surrounding districts. He concluded by wishing her every happiness in her new home. Miss Bailey thanked all present and said she was sorry to bo leaving the district. A largo circle of guests were present. showing how highly esteemed Miss B The animal meeting of the Sanson branch of tho W.E.A. was held at the offices of the Manawatu County Council on Thursday evening, Mr G. T. Francis presiding over a fair attendance. The subscription for the year was fixed at 2s 6d It was decided to hold meetings on Monday evenings The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr J. W. Masters; secretary, Aliss M- R.
