A “bio message received yesterday bv V,'right, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., from j 5 London house, stated that tho price of butter in Now York had dropped to oo contß a lb., the decline being equal to about 5s a cwt in London. Tho price in New York last week was 37i to 37j cents, a New Zealand butter was quoted in London on Thursday at 89s a cwt.. as •gainst 93s on Monday. Joseph Nathan and Coy., Ltd., have received from London tho following cabled fcdvice, dated February 14: —New Zealand ■ butter, 89s per cwt. No business doing. Now Zealand cheese, white, 49s per cwt.; coloured, 48s 6d per cwt. A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd.. London, give the following market prices as ruling at the close of business on Thursday :—Butter : Tlio market is quiet. New Zealand, finest, 88s to 89s; firsts, 87s to 88s. Australian, choicest, 88s to 89s; first grade, 87s to 88s. Danish (spot), 116 s; (f.0.b.), 965. Cheese: The market is steady. New Zealand, white, 49s to 49s 6d; coloured. 48s 6d to 495. Canadian, white, 62s to 645; coloured, 58s to 60s. J. and J. Lonsdale and Co., Lid., London, report as follows:—Butter: Market quiet. New Zealand, 88s to 89s; Australian, 88s to 89s: Danish, market weak. 114 s landed. Cheese: Market slow. White, 48s 6d: coloured, 48s to 48s 6d. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., arc advised under date February 14:—Butter market very slow. Danish, f.0.b., 96s (99s to 100 s). New Zealand, finest salted, 89s to 90s (89s to 80s). Australian, finest unsaltcd, 92s to 93s (93s to 945) ; finest salted, 88s to 89s (88s to 89s). Australian, g.a.q., 86s to 87s (87s). Cheese market slow. New Zealand white, 48s 6d to 49s (47s to 47s 6d); coloured, 48s to 48s 6d (475). Spot price for Canadian white, 56s to 60s (58s to 60s) : coloured. 56s to 60s (58s to 60s). Last week’s quotations •re shown in parentheses. DECREASED SHIPMENTS. Shipments of butter from tho Dominion last month were 13,466 tons, compared ■with 16.913 tons for January, 1934, a decrease of 3447 tons. For the six months ended January 31, exports of butter totalled 70.466 tons, compared with 76,700 tons for the corresponding period of 1933-34, a decrease of 6234 tons. Australian shipments this season, on Hhe other hand, show an increase. During i January, 16.044 tons of butter were to the United Kingdom, compared iwith 12,651 for January, 1934, an increase cf 3393 tons. For the six months ended ■ January, Australian exports of butter to the ■United Kingdom for the six months I pa red with 58,193 tons for the corresponding period of last season, an increase 5285 tons. , Shipments of cheese from New Zealand last month wore 9804 tons, compared with 11.514 tons for January, 1934. a decrease of 1710 tons.
