Scratched : Ylhan, Alloy, Guwoniea. FLYING HANDICAP. —Navaho 1, Hunt the Slipper 2. Scratched: Rritish Culumb-a, Merry Way. TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN. Feb. 12. The tvcalher conditions were ideal for the soini-linc.l gallops for the Cup meeting at WiDg-utui tills morning. The centre of the course proper and the plough track were available lor fast work and tile track proper, neat to tiie rails.-for tiie two-year-olds. Grand Finale and Trevenna were sent six furlongs on the course proper. The former was going much butter at the linish, the task taking nim 1.20. Unless the tracks are softer, ana there does not appear to be much chance ol this, 'Frevennu is an unlikely starter at the meeting. Money Flies, the iirst visitor to arrive, was given' a sprint over iiaif a, mile on the course proper and moved well. The two-ycar-olds. Sunny Jean and Lady Leighton, tail hah a mile in 54sec. J.vcidas and Red Dance were companions over seven furlongs on the plough and galloped well to cover the distance in 1.52 2-5. The former was going the better tit the finish and is now very well. Dissemble beat Draw Lad over six furlongs on the plough in 1.19. Prince Tractor began slowly, but was finishing oil strongly at the end of six furlongs in 1.26. The Rust Dart filly in A. fcj. McKay’s stable beat Flout over five furlongs on tlio plough, doing the last four furlongs in 52 o-osee.
Polo, Melba, and Blue Metal finished together over six furlongs on the same track, the last five furlongs taking 64 2-5.-CC. The two-year-olds. Jack Horner und Waltham, took 54 l-ssec to run hall a mile next to the rails and finished on even terms. Colonel Crawford effected a surprise by beating Morena over seven furlongs on the plough in 1.35. This is not Morelia’s true form.
Latitude and Kamo were companions in u gallop over five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. There was very little between them at the finish. Foreign Stur, who is now carrying a much improved appearance, and Cold Tax were sprinted three lurlongs along tiie back, both moving well. Kemal Pasha-, with his trainer up, easily accounted for Meadow Lark over five furlongs run in 1.3 4-5. This time could have been improved on by the former. ’The two-year-old Viking ran half a mile next to the rails in 51 2-ssee. finishing on strongly. Clihcta, Linguist, and Umtali •were companions over live furlongs. The last-named was soon left behind and Chliota only just beat Linguist by a good head in 1.4 1-5, but appeared to have a good deal in hand over the last furlong-. A large number were worked at from half to three-quarter pace.
