Received January 19, 11.58 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 18. Tlie text of the Abyssinian Government’s memorandum on the ItaloAbyssinian frontier incidents, which was issued at Geneva to-day, is based on article 11, paragraph 2, of the Covenant oi the .League ol Nations and requests that the matter be placed on the Council agenda. In pursuance or the British Government’s eirorts to use their good offices with both sides to ameliorate a crisis, Mr R. A. Eden, the leading British delegate to the Council meeting, together with M. Laval, had a private meeting with Baron Aloisi today. A Geneva- Press message states that it is honed it will at least prove possible to prevent any haaty action. Postponement of consideration of the matter until the next session of- the League Council is contemplated. A Geneva cable message says that Abyssinia, in the memorandum to the League, claims that the Italian military aircraft reeonnaisances are continuing, bombs being dropped on the Abyssinian port at Gerlogubi. Details of the events before and after the Ulual border fighting state that 107 Abyssininaus were killed and 45 wounded.
