FEILDING

SWIMMING CARNIVAL. RECORD ENTRIES. TWO MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIPS. Outstandingly large numbers of entries were received for the Feilding Amateur Swimming Club’s carnival, held in the municipal baths last evening. Many heats were required and in the men’s 50 yards event there were 59 entrants. It was stated that the number of entries constituted a record for such a carnival. Swimmers who attended from over a large area found the baths decorated, while the Feilding Pipe Band played several numbers before the opening of the evening’s programme. Mr J. Gordon Eliott, patron of the club, declared the carnival open. The attendance of the general public was excellent, while the officials who had control of the arrangements were as follow: Patron, Mr Eliott; controller, Mr 0. 0. .Sporle; starter. Mr J.
