Captain George Fried, weathered veteran of the North Atlantic, who has been supervising inspector of the United States Department of Commerce, has received international acclaim for his rescues at 6ea.. * Many governments have pinned medals upon his breast, and Signor Mussolini of Italy and King George of England have personally commended him for bravery as did President Coolidge. Captain Fried was born in Worcester (Mass.), August 10, 1877. He is a veteran of the Spanish-American War and the World War.
