RAPIDE DRAGON ’PLANE.

DAMAGED STARBOARD WING. REPAIRS AT PALMERSTON NORTH. The lower starboard wing which was damaged when the Rapide Dragon ’plane Tainui, of Messrs Hewett and Kay, was landing at Wanganui yesterday after a passenger flight, was last evening brought to Palmerston North for repairs, and is at present in a joinery yard at this centre. An examination has disclosed that the tilt on to the end of the wing broke two spars, each five inches by three, near the first bay. The fabric covering is torn, in places, and it is anticipated that repairs will occupy two or three days. Mr R. Johnson, of the staff of the Air Survey and Transport Company at Hobsonville, arrived in Palmerston North this morning to .carry out the work, Mr L. Mangham making a journey to Wellington to obtain the necessary spruce timber for replacements.
