CABINET CHANGES.

MR MASTERS’S TASKS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. Rt. Hon. G. -W. Forbes, in announcing the appointment of Mr S. G. Smith as Minister of Education, filling the Cabinet vacancy caused by Sir Apirana Ngata’s resignation, said Hon. It. Masters had relinquished the Education portfolio to be free to concentrate on matters relating to trade and industry, and in finding new markets abroad for New Zealand’s primary products. Mr Forbes added that Mr Masters will become chairman of the 1 Development of Industries Committee which is to be reconstituted, and will work closely with the Unemployment Board in developing industries deemed capable of giving stable employment to large numbers after the preliminary developmental difficulties nave been overcome. Several interesting cages are already under discussion. Mr Forbes said that Mr Smith, when in the United Ministry, from which he voluntarily retired to enable the formation of the Coalition Government, had shown ability to hold Ministerial rank.
