DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
PALMERSTON NORTH YISIT. PROGRAMME FOR RECEPTION. Arrangements for the official reception to be extended to His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester when he visits Palmerston North on January 3 and 4 next have practically been completed by the Palmerston North City Council, and have been submitted to the Department of Internal Affairs for approval. It has been arranged that on January 3 His Royal Highness will bo welcomed on his arrival at his hotel at 7.30 p.m. and he will have no engagements that evening. On the next day a civic reception will be accorded the Duke at the Band Rotunda, the Square, at 11.10 a.m., when the National Anthem will be played on the arrival of the Royal visiter. The presentation of an address of welcome by the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) on behalf of the citizens of Palmerston North and settlers of the County of Kairanga will then be made,, followed by the presentation of the Mayoress and local body representatives. There will also be the presentation of an address from Natives of the Te Awe Awe tribe.
School children and representatives of various bodies will assemble _ in front of the dais and will be received by His Royal Highness. Subsequently His Royal Highness will depart for Woodville at 12.15 p.m. The guard of honour will be provided by the Defence Department. Prior to his arrival in Palmerston North, the Duke will, by special request, spend an hour or two at Boys’ Flock House, near Bulls.
