OPINIONS IN INDIA.
ON REFORM REPORT. (Times Cables.) Received November 23, 2.10 p.m. BOMBAY, Nov. 22. The Nationalist newspapers are blazing with indignation against the report of the Joint Committee on India. The chairman of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber declares that the commercial safeguards were entirely provided in the interests of British trade and industry. A Calcutta report says the Bengalis are especially bitter over the communal award. The vernacular newspaper alleges that it aims to promote discord and provincial jealousies. Congressmen, businessmen and prominent people are reserving t heir opinion until the report is perused and discussed.
A Delhi message says the report is unlikely to prove so unacceptable as the extremists would like to suggest.
