RANGITIKEI

MAR-TON, Nov. 21. The 21st birthday of the Rangitikei Ladies’ Club was held yesterday. The president, Miss Simpson (Bonny Glen) received those present and Mrs C. Harris gave some amusing reminiscences Mrs D. Willis (retiring president), and Mrs Russell Gaisford (retiring secretary) wore presented with bouquets made by Miss Mary Galpin. Foundation members were presented with artistic posies, which were made by Mrs F, Harris (Turakina Valley), and Miss Galpin. The candles on the cake, lighted by Mrs Russell Gaisford, were extinguished by Mrs C. Harris, while the cake was cut by Mrs Wcst-Awdry. It was made by Miss Bessie Thoms.

The annual inspection of the Marton division of the St. John Ambulance Association, last evening, was carried out by the Assistant-Commissioner, Mr Brine, the District Officers, Messrs Harlo and Melton, the Lady District Officers. Mrs Brine and Miss Vine, and the Lady Corps Officer, Miss McCarthy, all of Wanganui. The Turnbull Cup for the best squad in the cadet division was presented to R. H. Larsen, E. D. Dccko. I. J. Manwaring and D. G. Mann.
