MIGRATION TO DOMINION.

i . BENEFITS TO BE GAINED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 21. A scheme to promote migration from Great Britain to New Zealand will he submitted to Dir Malcolm MacDonald, Uncler-Secretary of Dominion Affairs, who is now in Australia, when he visits the Dominion shortly. Proposals were discussed at a conference hold in Wellington today under the auspices of the Dominion Settlement Association. The meeting decided that any scheme organised must comply with the following essentials:—

(1) Assist in the solution of our present unemployment problems. (2) Provide for the rigid selection and training of immigrants in the country of origin. It was pointed out that increased population would assist primary and secondary industries bv increasing the internal markets of each, decrease the individual burden of taxation by ensuring full utilisation of the railways, roads and hydro-electric schemes, and sharing in the cost of government, provide for the adequate defence of this country, and ensure full development of the agricultural and industrial resources of New Zealand.

It was pointed out that the British Government has at present the sum of £15,000,000 set aside for development under the Empire Settlement Act.
