SCHOOL AT LINTON.
NEW BUILDING COMPLETED. CLASSES IN OCCUPATION. Finished in a manner which reflects much credit upon the workmen of the Wanganui Education Board, the new Linton School, which was built to replace that destroyed by fire on May 25 fast, has been completed, and will be officially opened on November 30. Classes, which have been accommodated in the public hall during the intervening months, moved into occupation of the new building on Monday, and the teachers, as well as the forty children, have reason to be well pleased with the accommodation provided for them. Strongly built, the new school is attractively painted in a cream colour with brown facings, and is complete with flagpole. The absence or brick chimneys is a noticeable feature, the fireplaces being equipped with iron ones instead. Of two good-sized rooms, with a wide corridor and porch, the building is very up-to-date, being well ventilated and lighted with the latest pattern of windows. It has plaster ceilings and is fitted with electric light, a facility not enjoyed in the old building. New equipment is to arrive towards the end of the week. Meanwhile old desks are being used. The new building is close to the location occupied by the old school, the site of which has been levelled and surfaced. This, with adjoining concrete work which has been provided, has greatly improved the surroundings of the school. Neat paths have been constructed, a new coal and wood shed has been erected, and other buildings are looking very neat after receiving a fresh coat of paint.
