RELIEF COMMITTEE.
DONATIONS OF FOOD. Accounts totalling £330 4s lOd were passed for payment at the monthlymeeting of the Palmerston North Central Relief Committee, held on Monday afternoon. The Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) presided, others present being Rev. Father Herliliy, Ilev. A. N. Scoffer, Messrs A. A. Langley, R. Hood, P. Larcomb (hon. treasurer), IC. G. Chamberlain (hon. secretary), Mesdames H. Palmer and Trask. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames A. E. Mansford, and M. Aitchison.
During the four weeks ending November 17, 2418 rations were issued — an average of GO4 per week—stated the report on the food depot. Some 5326 loaves of bread were purchased, and Messrs Boniface Bros, donated buns and scones each week, while 1342 lbs. of butter were purchased. In addition, 3| tons of vegetables, mostly potatoes, were purchased, and 8 cwt. of potatoes were received from Mr Larsen, of Glen Oroua. A quantity of rhubarb was received from tlie Dominion Auctioneering Co. and J. L. Bennett, Ltd. lit all 97 families received a daily ration of milk, and 72 pairs of boots were repaired; while 136 bags of firewood were issued. The fuel depot has now been closed down. It was reported that the clothing depot had been closed down in the meantime.
